I have not been painting but I have been taking pictures. I seem to have two main subject matters. One is yarn. I knit and crochet and with these two past times I developed quite a love for fiber arts. On a recent trip to our (my mom, sister, and I) favorite yarn store (Stix and Stitches) , I decided to bring my camera. Here are some of my fav shots:
Muse # 2: My dog, Maggie. I know I'm biased, but I can't help but feel that she is the cutiest, sweetest, most adorable dog in the universe. Here are some pics I took of her over the holidays:
Hoping to get into the city some time soon to really test my photography chops.

Rebel, Rebel
Happy Holidays People! With this lax in work and responsibility, I've been gifted the time to write on my blogs!!!
I also received actual gifts. I posted pictures of the yarn I got on my other blog, but on here I'm posting pictures I was able to take WITH one of my gifts. My awesome husband knew I wanted lenses for my camera and, although I'm slightly annoyed and jealous that he went to B&H without me, bought 2 extra lenses!!!!!!!! WOOT!!! Here are some Christmas pics:
This is my baby, Maggie:

Predictable
As soon as school started up again and I had to come up with lessons and such, the blogging and artwork seemed to slowly fade. I knew it would. I made a choice, to become a teacher. One of my professors, Prof. Brown, had us read this book and it really spoke to me and the predicament I find myself in. What I got from it is not to get down on yourself for the route that you chose in life. Do what you need to but always create. It was a great message I'll never forget.
I haven't been painting but I have been trying to draw graffiti style things. It's my teaching environment and what the kids like. I shall post one as soon as I have something worth posting!
Later!!!

Blogger Skins and Turner Ponderings
My sister mentioned a while ago that maybe I should start putting together free skins for Blogger. I just tried fixing up my Geek of all Trades Blog and hit some snaffoos while trying to alter the code. I'm probably better off making my own skin so we'll see how that goes. I know I'm all over the place with things but at least I'm being creative:)
Just thinking about the Turner exhibit I saw at the MET. He was tormented but sooooo amazing. It was great to be so close to his paintings. They are massive but are very intricate. The amount of work that went into them, I can't even imagine.

Back again with some more...
Hola art lovers! Here are some recent paintings:
I've always had a much wider variety of drawings than paintings because I suppose that is available to do during the day and is something that, because of that, I have more experience with than anything else. My husband suggested that I take the things I draw and paint them. I was not sure they would translate well, but I'm happy with the result.
Along with this, I purchased a new Canon Rebel and have been taking a lot of pictures that I'd like to post on my Flickr and put in a new digital photography section on my website.
Here are some of my fav.s from my trip to NYC for my b-day:

Website Update
I've posted my art on the website. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the art for sale page.
I'm going to keep adding to my blog as a way to document my journey. I'm gonna be posting my new pieces soon. I've got a couple of Self Portraits and a kooky new thing.
I also have a profile on deviant art
I'll see if maybe I can even post things on there since they do provide a print purchasing service.

OMG, I've got a website!!!
Yeah, that's right, I'm writing my own website!!!!!!!!! The address is theartgeek.net . Right now there is nothing there but my little logo and an under construction sign, but I'm hoping to get the front page up soon and the others elements will follow. But if you like staring at blank pages, go for it, lol. OK, that's all I have to say but I was so happy, I had to blog it!
YAY!
